The Money collected from the permits is used for a number of purposes such as buying medication for the gorillas, just like humans, gorillas can also get sick and they need medication. There is a lot of research which is being carried out within national parks where gorillas are located and part of the money that fund such projects is acquired through selling permits.
Giving back to the community, the government of Uganda gives back a certain percentage of the annual amount of money collected from the permits back to the communities surrounding the parks. This is done to improve their lives as well as to reduce on poaching and other incidences around the park.
The park rangers and other employees need salaries which are paid from the money collected from permits
